It's All Right 2.0

Its the internet (duh) but not in the way you might think. Sure, the tech savvy and the newer generations are increasingly turning to the web for news and shunning newsprint, but the real giant killer is Craigslist!!

Classified advertising has been the solid foundation of newspaper revenue since forever. Its local, its personal, its extensive, and its searchable (its “classified”). We got results and they are unambiguous and visible to the untrained eye. Its a textbook stress fracture of her left tibia. Gina has been totally off the leg for two weeks, and the clinic says two weeks more, after which she can start putting some weight on it while wearing the foam/plastic boot.

It will be three months until recovery. Gina has not missed a practice yet. She departs Friday morning for spring break training and sightseeing in Philadelphia with the women’s team.

She plans to keep working out and stay in shape best she can in prep for next season.

I may be a little behind on this current internet phenom – Stuff White People Like. Pretty damn funny. It’s not about all white people, but the types that are NYT readers, socially-aware, eco-concious, and privileged in a way that is rarely-if-ever associated with people of color. Among the things THESE white people like are: Barack Obama, Whole Foods, David Sedaris, and public radio. ouch.

…like one of those expensive “Nalgene bottles.” White people are always talking about their “Nalgene’s” and how they won’t break, even if they’re dropped from the top of a rock wall or something

The dinner party is the opportunity for white people to be judged on their taste in food, wine, furniture, art, interior design, music, and books. Outside of dictatorships and a few murder trials, there might not be a more rigorous judgment process in the modern world

Yes, that Ira guy (of This American Life) deserves such an incredibly hard kick to the groin. So annoying and smug. Smugness is the worst when it’s (poorly) masked in that mix of complacency/bewilderment/innocence with which those pussy NPR commentators tinge their whispering.

If they are hit on by a member of the same sex, it provides them with a valuable story that they can use to prove to their other friends that they are more progressive and tolerant. “(at the gay bar) this guy/girl hit on me, I said I was ’straight but not narrow,’ and it was totally chill. Oh, you went to an Irish bar this weekend? That’s cool, I guess. “

Soooo funny. Is “re-useable shopping bags” on here yet?

The site is not without its detractors, in fact the critique here is how I discovered the site. And its not entirely original. I recall visiting http://www.blackpeopleloveus.com with amusement a couple of years ago (read the letters section for reallife morons who don’t get the joke.)
